One week to go! I have 2 happy places. The first is at home with my amazing wife, Leanna, and our little dog Charlie! Nothing makes me happier. The second is in the mountains with my daughter, @okayjennay! This shot is from our first hike on the JMT at Lower Cathedral Lake in Yosemite. It was the end of an amazing day hiking thru God’s amazing creation!
Captured this sunrise at Cecile Lake in the Ansel Adams Wilderness 3 years ago while hiking with my daughter @okayjennay. On that morning we were the only 2 people that got to witness this amazing view! Very humbling!!
A little over a week to go! This shot was from our first hike on the JMT. We found this amazing view by accident and took our dinner and watched the sunset. A magical moment!
My daughter, @okayjennay, and I are starting our next hiking adventure in 2 weeks! This shot is from our first hike in the Sierras 3 years ago at Iceberg Lake. This year we are going to continue our hike on the John Muir Trail going from Mammoth south to Muir Trail Ranch, around 60 miles or so. That will put us at the halfway point! The last time we tried this part of the trail I got sick and we had to turn around. This time my doctor and I have come up with a plan for that not to happen again! Stay tuned. In the meantime, I’ll be posting some of my favorite photos from our last 3 hiking adventures.
Where have you seen Hope Springs Water? This bottle was in Yosemite National Park! @hopespringswater_etx let’s see how many different places we can post where you have seen a bottle of Hope Springs Water! To learn more about them go to www.hopespringswater.org #hopespringswater
Happy Birthday to my amazing daughter Jennifer, @okayjennay. I am so proud of who she is! We are starting our next hiking adventure in 3 weeks, continuing the John Muir Trail. I feel extremely fortunate to have a daughter that wants to spend 8 days in the wilderness with me! #fatherdaughteradventure2019 , #daughtersbirthday
I could watch these little critters for hours!
While driving around the Badlands National Park with my wife, Leanna, and our friends Kyle, Cindy and Cortney, we spotted this overlook that gave us a view of what seemed to be an ocean of yellows and greens. Kyle decided to do a video walking along a path thru the Yellow Sweet Clover. The blue in his shirt made him stand out even tho he looks so small in the great expanse of yellow!
Another old church in the Badlands.
While driving to South Dakota we passed this old ranch somewhere in Nebraska. I had to stop and turn around to photograph it.
Anothe shot from Badlands National Park. We were so fortunate to be there when the Yellow Sweet Clover was in bloom. It only happens every 3-4 years and only when there is sufficient rain. Everything aligned perfectly which made the landscape awash in beautiful yellows and greens. That coupled with the colors of the buttes made for some amazing vistas!
I’ve photographed this old church, St Peters in Pine Ridge Reservation, a couple of times. This time the evening thunderstorm made for a dramatic sky. Thick clouds muted the colors so black and white was called for!
The wait was worth it! We got there and it was raining, we couldn’t see it and there was a tornado warning! We stuck it out and waited in the gift shop until it died down. Driving back to where we are staying thru a terrible thunderstorm😬 #happy4thofjuly #mountrushmorenationalmemorial
Got lucky with this one! Thunder storm over The Badlands.
Watching babies of any species is fun but there’s something about baby geese that is special! Watching them swim in there perfect little line , following their parents where ever they go and imagining those little webbed feet paddling as fast as they can to keep up is so cute and fun. I could watch them all day! #goslings #gaggle #wichitamountainswildliferefuge #natureisamazing #natureisbeautiful
Saw some amazing Bison at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma the other day. If you’ve never been, go! It’s where Teddy Roosevelt made a stand in bringing the Bison herds back from the brink of extinction! Really great little game reserve. Lot’s of trails, giant boulders, grasslands, nice campground, elk, turkeys, prairie dogs, etc. just an hour north of Wichita Falls, close to Lawton, Ok. #wildliferefuge #wichitamountainswildliferefuge #getoutside
