I‘m really thankful for all the unique landscape I saw so far. Looking back through my images, I‘m realising that in a few years they might look completely different. This Glacier for instance lost more then 800m of length in the past 10 years. I want to educate myself more and more to understand what’s happening to our planet. We should take more care of Mother Earth, we only have one and there will be no second chance.

My photographer, Ian Thompson, and I met firefighters assigned to the Orleans Complex fire at a gas station near the site in Willow Creek, Ca. They had agreed to guide us back to the Orleans Complex Incident Command Center to stay the night, so that they could guide us around the landscape over the course of our visit.
Firefighters and other personnel that were unloading out of the truck seemed remarkably rushed- the workday was only just beginning. We had been waiting there for quite some time before they had arrived so as to not miss them. I was still holding my half eaten lunch in one hand and a camera in the other by the time they pulled up. After exchanging brief hello’s, one of the firefighters that had seen me put my lunch away back when they had first arrived remarked how good a bite to eat sounded in that moment, but stated that they still had hours of work to do before they could eat. Within minutes they unloaded, filled up their gas, reloaded, and we wound our way through the mountain pass, out to the Orleans Complex Incident Command Center. .
