TWO MORE SLEEPS 🙌
Here's a little Tuesday throwback to dealing with problems as they arise...having to re fit the steering wheel before we could take my Beetle Rea out for an Island jaunt. Fingers crossed these kind of things won't happen too often in Baloo, but never say never!
This is probably my favourite sneak preview picture that I've been sent so far. It truly shows how beautiful Baloo's colour is but also how perfect some of his finishing touches are. I am so happy I've been allowed to get the black and silver number plates, they're very smart 🖤
If you haven't already spied this cheeky caravan already over on my good friend's page @live_like_olive then please meet Lulu! She's the most amazing little caravan and I can't get over how spacious she is inside considering her size. Don't you agree that her and Baloo will match perfectly?! 😍💙
Judging by my weather app it won't be long now until we are using these 'jungle cups' again ☀️ My clever friend Charlie made these for us a couple of summers ago!
Here's the only other picture I have that gives me hope he's almost done. I'm glad I took the time to paint the bumper brackets to smarten them up and Rea's lights have come up nicely. All very promising! Few more bits to sort out before we can go on any adventures! 🤞
So today my awesome friend went to have a sneaky look at Baloo and give me a progress update and it's looking like it won't be too much longer for me to wait! He couldn't wait to show me so he sent me a couple of cheeky photos including this one of a very pretty painted wheel. That colour though 😍💙
It's set to reach some pretty lovely temperatures this weekend here on the island and I am just itching to enjoy those driving around in a bug! So whilst I'm still waiting for Baloo to be finished I'll be enjoying some time in Olive the sunshine Beetle 💛 (P.s. let's just take a second to admire the awesome shape of this car?!)
So I have to save my excitement for another day as Baloo has encountered a few problems that has pushed back his completion. Few bits of welding to sort and other things due to previous owners tinkering. But like everyone says it will be worth the wait, and what's a couple of extra weeks anyway?! This is a great shot of some of the other vehicles patiently awaiting their own restorations at the space where Baloo is getting sorted out. The beetle you can spy over there in the background? That actually has a few parts of Rea on it including one of her doors! I love that she's helped the life of another car ❤️
So if all goes to plan I have two more sleeps until I get Baloo all done...yes that blimmin well means I can be driving him around before the weekend has truly begun! Slight panic last night when I was ordering tyres at 6:30pm but they will arrive tomorrow and get fitted and that should really be it. As they are very much keeping his finished look a surprise for me I don't have any final pictures for you guys to see of the two-tone paint job (I haven't seen it yet!) so it will be a surprise for us all 😍
I just can't get over the colour of the water here on the Isle of Wight. It's definitely one of the most memorable things about coming here and when I get visitors they always comment on it. Seaview is one of my favourite spots to visit, especially in a Beetle!
I'm definitely like 200% happy with the choice of blue that I chose (with help from my good friends!) and I'm sure when I am able to post pictures of the finished car you guys will agree...
Seeing Beetles out and about, well don't they just make you smile? The contrast between them and a modern car really is awesome. This photo features my best friend's Beetle Olive who features quite a lot in my feed. Possibly because I'm still waiting for mine to be done but definitely because she's a beautiful sunshine bug! Today we had a lovely browse in this amazing new artisan shop. Are you local? Go check it out! You won't be disappointed. Planning to visit the island soon? Do it! There's so much to see and do.
One more week 🙌🚙
Places around the island that I cannot wait to drive to in Baloo include this beautiful destination - Bembridge! Especially when the around the Island race is happening. This is an old picture on a gloriously sunny day, where have they gone?!
It's Friday! 🙌 I have a lovely long weekend ahead of me and today I'll be busy busy sorting out the remainder of my car bits before taking them over to my trusty restorers who are going to be putting Baloo back together completely on Monday. I am so pleased we are at this stage and there is only one more week until I should be sitting behind the wheel and driving him home. So here's a picture of one of my favourite details of the car - my fuel gauge. I mean 😍 Going from owning a 72 to a 65 I'm definitely appreciating the difference in the details and parts that my car needs. What are you up to this Friday? 💙🚙
This could definitely pass as an Air BnB if it isn't already... I've always had an eye for a classic, especially cars but sometimes for things like houses or music. Maybe I appreciate them so much because I was born in a more modern era?
So something you guys may not know about me...my Dad is a private pilot (bit of a hobby of his) and passed his test when I was about 8 years old. When living in both England and Scotland he always sought out the nearest local airport and went flying as much as his wallet would allow. He's been taking me up with him as 'co-pilot' since I can remember and now I live here on the Isle of Wight there are plenty of opportunities for him to fly down to see me, cuts out the traffic anyway! In fact, before we made our move to Scotland when I was about 11yrs old Dad almost bought Sandown Airport here on the island when it came up for sale, so I would have been an Islander way earlier but life has a funny way of leading you and so Scotland it was. This aerial shot is of my current home which is a kids activity centre in Wootton Bridge sitting right on the creek. What could be better?! Especially when we want to take the paddle board or rib out. The best thing is next time Dad flies down, I can head over to either Sandown or Bembridge Airport and meet him in Baloo! Definitely loving this year ✈️
