MY 6 WEEK CHALLENGE!!!

Having had a forced period of inactivity due to work, holiday and a hernia repair op, I was keen to start back training in earnest.
For 6 weeks I’ve trained HARD-not every day, and ATE CLEANER-not perfectly, but I stayed CONSISTENT and COMMITTED.
I am pleased with the results (so far) but they are of secondary importance as I’m more pleased with the fact that I’m back training and back ENJOYING training, the aesthetics are a mere byproduct of a healthier and happier lifestyle. It’s not about the end goal it’s about enjoying the journey. I feel better not only physically but MENTALLY too.
I found it tough at times and there were plenty of sessions when I didn’t want to train, plenty of temptations over Christmas but we always have a choice and that’s where mental strength and control is key.
This is NOT a short term fix but the start of a long term sustainable plan for a healthier, fitter, happier lifestyle. 🔥💪BACK ROUTINE💪🔥
This is one of my two BACK WORKOUTS or PULL DAYS that I’ve been working on in the gym throughout the last few weeks.
I’ve been trying to get a full back workout by going through the different ranges of movement, pull downs, horizontal pulls(elbows in/out) and upward pulls, also including single-arm work and biceps to finish.
I warm up on the Rowing machine for 1000m then go into...
1. Face pulls / T-Y-W- Raises (This is for activation, retraction and rotator cuff strengthening)
2. Pull ups / Assisted Pull ups (Overloading on the pull downs to hit the Lats)
3. Barbell bentover row / Seated Row (Both horizontal pulls but from different elbow positions to hit slightly different muscle groups)
4. Single arm reverse row / Single arm bentover row (Single arm work for strength and balance)
5. Upright row / Shoulder shrugs (upward to pulls to finish off the back)
6. Hammer curl / rotational curl / barbell curl. (Not the biggest fan of bicep work but seems to make sense on a pull day to finish with some curls.

We held the mighty Manchester United to a 0-0 draw. Amazing feeling to play against your boyhood team and test yourself against some of the best players in the world.
One of my footballing highlights was to be privileged enough to play against the worlds best player (probably one of his un-memorable lowlights! 😂)
