you’ve probably heard of the film “the green book” which has been accused of white gazing black jazz pianist don shirley’s friendship with his white driver...well here’s the blackass fact about what it was like to travel + drive while black during segregation [which is the origin of any “[insert verb] while black” hashtags in response to incidents like permit patty]...”the negro motorist green book” was an annual guide published by #nyc mailmain victor hugo green from 1936 to 1966...the great migration spurred the relocation of 6m black people from the south to the west + north from 1916 to 1970...black vehicle ownership also increased during this period as black folks often traveled back to visit relatives... hence why the green book sold 2m copies per year via subscription + esso gas stations and was called the #bible for black travelers during the jim crow era as it identified hotels + gas stations + restaurants that were friendly to people of color vs “sundown towns” which were all-white communities that were known for white #terrorism...a common trick among black men was to display a drivers hat on the dash in case his travels + vehicle ownership was questioned by #police...in the book “this is my country too” john williams states “white travelers have any idea of how much nerve and #courage it requires for a negro to drive coast to coast in america”...and this was true on route 66 despite nat king cole’s happy homage to the highway...this book should be held in the same high regard as the underground railroad as it guided just as a many black souls to safe passage...which brings me to another blackass fact and the reason why i’ll never support building a #wall...[1] the underground railroad ran thru mexico who refused to sign a fugitive enslaved treaty...#google the 1842 cherokee nation slave revolt...black people sought freedom in mexico to escape both white + native american enslavers [2] the #usa border crossed mexico...mexico didn’t cross the #usa border...#google mexico cession...i swear...the more you know reading rainbow

Riding an elephant up to Amber Fort 琥珀堡. Amber Fort (also known as Amer Fort) was built in 1592 and is located in the town of Amer, 7 miles away from the city of Jaipur 齋浦爾, India 印度. Amber Fort is known for its artistic Hindu style elements.

Random facts: [1] Located high on a hill, Amber Fort provided protection to the ruler and his family, and also served as a palace. Hence, the Amber Fort is also popularly known as the Amber Palace. The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. [2] Amber Fort was constructed using red sandstone and marble. The opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-i-Aam ("Hall of Public Audience"), the Diwan-i-Khas ("Hall of Private Audience"), the Sheesh Mahal ("mirror palace"), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas, where a cool climate is artificially created by wind blowing over a water cascade within the palace.
