Off feet conditioning can be a very valuable tool when it comes to trek preparation. It can save the joints and protect against overuse injury, while still developing specific trekking fitness.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here is when you should do it:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BEGINNING OF A PROGRAM⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are just starting your preparations and haven't trained in a while, it is probably a good idea not overload your joints straight away (particularly if you are carrying a few extra kilos!). Off feet conditioning can be a good low impact option for the first 4-6 weeks of your program. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
RECOVERY SESSIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are training hard for a trek, you NEED to plan some recovery. I usually recommend my trekkers take every 4th week off hiking and instead do a lower intensity session on the bike.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

WHEN FEELING SORE⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you don't look after them, overuse injuries can take FOREVER to get better... So when your feet, shins or knees start aching, see a physio and consider switching in some off feet options for a few weeks.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

INTERVAL TRAINING⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once you have a good base of aerobic capacity, throwing in some higher intensity intervals can be valuable. But if you are a bit overweight or are susceptible to particular injuries, it can be a much safer option to do these off feet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The magical Isla del Sol, shrouded in mystery. It feels like the clouds spin a ring around the lake and the sun in its eternity always shines upon her. Which is where the name Isla del Sol comes from. In my exploration I came upon gorgeous flowers rolling down the hills, seemingly emerald coloured waters sparkling in every bay and the impossible blue lake of Titicaca shielding it in every direction. What a serene, calm and loving place to live and breathe. If you are looking for clarity, this is where you need to be.

In Inca legend, the Isla del Sol and Lake Titicaca is the cradle of civilization, where Viracocha the supreme God of the Incas created Inti, the God of the Sun. Moreover, he saw fit to send his son and daughter to teach humans how to build houses and hunt. As such, you can imagine the feeling of walking through a legend in such a sacred place.

Este fin de semana... encontramos nuchos de esos instantes que inyectan esa energía positiva que le da felicidad al corazón.
Trekking modalidad non stop (con guía habilitado César Torres). Donde pusimos a prueba cuerpo mente y alma... el resultado fue: cansancio y alegría extrema. Felictaciones totales!!!

Con parte del equipo @ot.cordoba.outdoor.training este fin de semana realizamos trekking modalidad non stop al cerro Champaquí, punto más alto de la pcia de Córdoba. Compartiendo la montaña y conectando con la madre naturaleza.

Photo taken of our guide, Dawa Sherpa during our descent to Muktinath 3760m after the successful Thorong La Pass 5416m conquer. We took the short cut, not the clear trail, but along the edges the of the proper one. Why? Shorter yet we were confident we could do a faster descent to save on the leg energy rather than doing a zig zag walk down the slopes after been up since 5 am to go up Thorong La Pass. I think it could be around 12 pm by the time this photo was taken.

How I missed out on this photo? In a wild adventure trip of such magnitude, usually there are tons of pics taken and contributed by other companions. I have 2 mobile phones and go pro camera, then take T.I.M.E. to go through them. In time, when u went back to your pool of photos to look again, there will be always the ones that you missed out on. I seriously should go get a proper DSLR to document my next one.
